Look what’s coming! But it’s in the mountains

Snow will fall as low as 800 feet over the next day, dropping up to a foot of snow in the mountains but steering clear of lower elevations.

A heavy snow warning will go into effect in the mountains from 2 p.m. today to 6 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Seattle. During that period, the Cascades will see 10 to 12 inches of snow, according to NWS forecaster Carl Cerniglia. Another 8 to 10 inches could dump in the mountains Wednesday and Thursday.

The snow looks like it will stay in the ranges. Some snow could fall on the higher foothills close to the Cascades, said Cerniglia.

“It’s not going to affect anyone here in town,” he said.
