NBA Notebook | Sidelined Morrison tries to stay positive
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - While his teammates warmed up before the Charlotte Bobcats’ season opener Friday night, Adam Morrison was dressed in a suit, preparing for a season without basketball after tearing the ACL in his left knee during an exhibition last month.
“It’s unfortunate. I’m disappointed,” the former Gonzaga star said in his first public comments since he was injured. “The team was feeling good. I was feeling good. It’s just part of the business. It happens.”
Morrison, who will undergo surgery Nov. 10, never missed a game in high school or in his record-breaking college career. But he was still surprisingly upbeat and pleased with how the Bobcats have supported him.
“I’m going to try to make it a positive and work on my body,” he said. “I guess I’m going to try to use it as a redshirt season.”
Notes
• Heat guard Dwyane Wade has been cleared to play after recovering from the left knee and left shoulder surgeries he had in May. Miami coach Pat Riley didn’t put a timetable on Wade’s return to the lineup.
• The Spurs announced that F Tim Duncan has signed a contract extension, widely reported as a two-year, $40 million extension that will keep Duncan in San Antonio at least through the 2011-12 season.
