Former Kenmore City Council candidate dies at 23
Kenmore
A memorial service will be held Sunday for a former Kenmore City Council candidate who died this week.
The service will be for Elliot Newlin, 23, whose name appears in a state voters pamphlet and on ballots for the City Council position this month.
Newlin had withdrawn from the contest but said he made his decision too late to have his name removed from the voters guide or the ballot. He died in his sleep at his family home in Kenmore on Monday, said his mother, Carol Newlin. No cause of death has been determined, she said.
Newlin was born in Massachusetts, grew up in Kenmore and was a graduate of Inglemoor High School and Shoreline Community College. He also is survived by his father, Gary Newlin, and a brother, Marc Newlin.
Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Mark Catholic Church, 18033 15th Place N.E., Shoreline.
